4. On this I am unsure. What I have understood is that we have in SAP have "infinite capacity" on our work centers. My understanding is also that we do "levelling" of production for stock refill in an external system and based on this we create production orders.

There are a few reasons to why we have a one lead time in the material master and another in the routing. One reason is that the in-house production time is the longest agreed delivery time we have to our customers. We have a webpage connected to SAP and if the customer checks availability there he gets the result of 6 days. Another reason is that we have some materials that are on stock but over a certain quantity the item category is changed to ATO during sales order creation to prevent the stock from being emptied. (This is achieved via userexit.) When quantity is below ATO-threshold we use the in-house production time in cases when there it not enough on stock.
