The new Data protection law in Russian Federation and its impact on SF data centers and existing cutomers

Hello,

We have implemented the SF PMGM modules for a client in europe. The client has subsidiaries in 12 countries in europe and Russia and all the data of the PMGM are stored in SFs data center in Germany. Until now we didn't have any issue with this architecture, however from the 1st of Sept 2015  the new Russian law introduces an obligation on all data operators to ensure recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, change and extraction of personal data of Russian citizens with the use of data centers located only in the territory of Russia. This means that any personal data of Russian citizens (direct and indirect) will need to be stored in servers or data centers located in Russia. This implies a huge impact in our existing architecture and I would like to ask you if anyone has confront the same issue and if yes how you have handle it?

Thank you in advance for your contribution,

F.S.
