Check out KBA 1873593:

1. You have to archive all existing objects (*). It’s not enough to set the
   deletion flag or indicator, you have to archive them from database
2. You have to clear all stocks, also the stocks from previous period. Please
   see note 30656

(*) Objects can be: order, delivery, stocks, batch, purchase order….for this
material
