Re: Which are the models suitable for reporting and dashboard creation?

There is no specific model in PowerDesigner to model a crystal reports dashboard but I would recommend that you take a look at the following:

1. Use a requirements model to capture the dashboard specification. Ensure that all your data elements are identified and link these to the  underlying attributes in the relevant physical data models. This will allow you to generate a traceability matrix view to ensure all the data is available.

2. Use an enterprise architecture model to model the BI subsystem as  a system. This can be very useful if there are multiple BI technologies in place as it allows an impact assessment of the which data is used in which BI system. You can extend this model to document which dashboards and reports are supported by which BI system using forms or reports. This can be linked to users from an enterprise architecture organisation structure to define security requirements.

3. See how you can leverage any a physical model of data to build multidimensional diagrams or generate a generate an SAP BusinessObjects universe from your PDM if this is relevant to your approach.
