Re: Future of PowerBuilder webcast

David,

Thanks again, I think you are very very right on the things you say about Word and other client software: Exactly the reason why I´m questioning what would be a lasting solution for those customers who "do want" our application to run on a webbrowser. It´s not me agreeing on that, but if a client who needs it, if not he´s gone ... then that´s a reason for us to at least try to give that possibility. I also agree a 100% on what Chris says about this.

Exactly also the reason why I´m evaluating the "ease" in which "Appeon WEB" (not future powerbuilder) can convert all of our pb classic apps with Word, Excel, Outlook and Crystal Reports.

The only one left to get working is Cryst. Rep.

If we don´t manage to get a solution, we won´t offer Appeon Web as a possibility to our clients, at least not for our current applications. Maybe we´ll give them a combined solution, who knows.

I myself have also been predicting that a webapplication will never work as well, fast, secure and unrestricted and uncontrolled by "others" as client server desktop. Now I think there should be both of them. "Web is good for some stuff and non-web is great for a lot of stuff". It all depends on the stuff your app deals with.

It seems that a lot of clients don´t see that. For me the "ease" of having one code for all platforms is not a need yet, and for the future Appeon´s powerbuilder version will solve that at least for Android and iOS.

The horror of having to create installation packages for new versions and deploy to clients is also not a problem. They pay for it, so it´s work well spend.

Cheers,

Miguel Leeuwe
